Percussion Conversion of a European Flintlock Traveling Pistol
Description: NSN, .58 Caliber, 8 3/8” part-octagon barrel with a good, lightly pitted bore. This is an attractively proportioned pistol that has an unadorned lock with gracefully contoured nipple bolster added in place of the pan. The metal has an overall dark plum-brown patina with gray fading along the barrel, which has an octagonal breech, wedding band transition to round, and a slightly flared muzzle. The pistol has a pin-fastened walnut stock with nicely decorated brass furniture and a lightly chipped and cracked forend tip. The brass has an overall dark ochre patina with brighter yellow along the raised edges. Additionally, there is a with-the-grain crack at the tip of the forend on the left side, as well as a repaired chip at the butt on the right. The mechanism is tight and functions flawlessly, and a period replacement ramrod is included. This is an attractive and well made pistol that rates very good overall.
