Description: Unfired Documented Colt Commando .38 Revolver with Police Ownership Offered here for sale and acquired from a collection which we have the opportunity to sell for the second time is this SUPERB WWII period first issued Colt Commando .38 revolver. A fascinating and highly collectible piece the Colt Commando was introduced in 1942 during World War II as a cost-effective version of the Colt Official Police revolver. Due to wartime material and labor shortages, Colt streamlined production, resulting in a Parkerized (phosphate) finish which was more durable and utilitarian, ideal for military and police use. It has an unpolished, smooth frame as opposed to the high-polish bluing and checkered wood grips seen on pre-war Colts. Chambered in .38 Special, with 4" barrel.
