Colt saa artillery model from "Custer range
Description: Colt saa artillery model from the "Custer range". This gun is listed by serial # 6991 on page 270 of Kopec & Fenn's book as "battle damaged". There is a good chance it was damaged in the Custer battle as another documented Custer gun is listed along with it. #6559 which was pick up off the battle field by Col. Benteen and returned and is listed as "battle damaged at Little Big Horn" My gun 6991 has this number on three parts. The frame, t.g. and b.s. the bbl. and cylinder are R.A.C. and D.F.C inspected. The tiny "A" is on the t.g and b.s., all martial inspections are visible on the gun. Its is well used but smoothe gray metal, absolutely correct in its artillery configuration. A rare very possible Custer Battle gun that is listed in a Kopec book as "battle damaged". SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Antique: Yes |
