Colt 1851 Factory Engraved Navy made in 1858. 95% of the original finish. Engraving is excellent and sharp. Good case colors remain on the lever. The colors on the frame have toned slightly. Grips are beautiful burled walnut. The back strap has a Sam Colt presentation. The presentation read “L. Cole Esq with Colonel Colt’s compliments” S. Cole was Silas Ebeneezer Cole who was a Canadian attorney who Colt hired as a patent attorney. This gun is a deluxe ebony case. The case very fine accessories along with 3 very nice skin packets. Under the embossed compartment lid is a mushroom head cleaning rod. This gun came out of the famous Robert Pershing collection of Colts. Mr. Pershing was a very astute collector who authored a number of articles on his research. Accompanying this gun is detailed description of this gun and Mr. Pershing research. Very fine Colonel Colt presentation in very fine condition in a killer case. Hard set to improve upon!
