This Colt was produced in 1940. The pistol's serial number is 342042. It has the standard 6 inch barrel. It is chambered for the then new 357 Magnum cartridge. The special order requests on this pistol is stated on the factory letter. It is furnished with a round front sight and a 3 pound trigger pull as special features. It was sent to the Buckeye Cycle Co. Akron Ohio February 19th 1940. This Colt shows light holster use and wear. The cylinder locks up tight with no play. The action works smoothly as you would expect for this model. The pistol shows light shooting wear. The original bluing shows some thinning on the right side plate. Overall, the bluing would rate a 94% condition. The Colt grips are in fine condition. The checkering is sharp with no flattened points. This is a rare Shooting Master as chambered for the 357 Magnum. Most of these Shooting Master's were chambered for the 38 Special cartridge. The special order requests as stated in the factory letter is also a rare feature seldom seen ordered on this model.
