This example is the long cylinder model, chambered for the legendary .30-30, originally invented in 1895 for use in the Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle. It was developed from the .38-55 cartridge by necking down the cartridge from a .379-inch bullet to one with a diameter of .308 inches.
