The Ruger Redhawk revolver was Ruger's first venture into large-bore revolvers, announced in 1979 and hitting store shelves in 1980. The Redhawk is an extremely robust revolver action, using a triple-locked action similar to Smith & Wesson's original triple-lock design. Initially only chambered in .44 Remington Magnum/.44 Special, the Redhawk was later chambered in .41 Magnum, .357 Magnum, .45 Colt, and .45 ACP/.45 Colt. The revolver has a classic design profile with a square butt, adjustable rear design, and ramped front sight with red insert. The barrel rib is also grooved to help reduce glare.
