Description:
The Smith & Wesson Model 12-3 is a medium-frame, six-shot revolver chambered in .38 Special. Part of the "Airweight" line, it is essentially an aluminum-alloy frame version of the classic all-steel Model 10 (Military & Police). The 12-3 engineering variation was produced between 1977 and 1984. Unlike standard K-frames, the 12-3 features a grip frame that is 0.08" narrower than the steel Model 10. This requires specialized "thin" grips; standard aftermarket K-frame grips will often leave a visible gap. The 12-3 update introduced a gas ring on the yoke to the cylinder to improve reliability. .38 Special
