Smith & Wesson Model 28 (the classic “Highway Patrolman") in .357 Magnum. This example is a used, never-fired firearm — essentially old-stock that was carried or stored but never discharged. History

The Smith & Wesson Model 28, commonly known as the “Highway Patrolman", was introduced in the mid-1950s as an affordable, duty-grade alternative to the full-blown Model 27. Built on S&W’s K-frame, the Model 28 shared the same strong .357 Magnum performance but was finished and appointed for service use rather than show—simpler checkered walnut or rubber grips, a durable blued finish, and fewer decorative touches. It quickly became popular with law enforcement and plainclothes officers who wanted the power of the .357 Magnum in a more practical package. Over the decades the Highway Patrolman earned a reputation for reliability and ruggedness; today it’s sought after by collectors and shooters who appreciate classic mid-20th century American revolver engineering.
