Description:
Standard configuration Smith & Wesson S&W K38 Target Masterpiece, circa 1949, chambered in .38 Special, 6'' barrel with semi-patridge front sight and fully adjustable rear sight. Left side of barrel marked "Smith & Wesson". Right side of barrel is marked "38 S. & W. Special CTG". Right side of the frame with the S&W location in Springfield, Mass. Usual sideplate logo. Case hardened checkered hammer and thin serrated trigger. Full serial number on butt, cylinder, and under barrel, while the inspection mark 33397 is inside the crane. Fitted with walnut checkered grips with diamonds around screws and silvered S&W medallions. Complete with correct pencil marked Blue/Gold shipping box, referencing make, model, finish and barrel length. No Literature or accessories.
Condition:
Approximately 99% bright original blue finish with minimal muzzle wear and a rare fine scratch. Cylinder ring barely breaks the finish. No cartridge head imprints on the recoil shield. Comparable condition color case hardening. Near excellent grips, the right panel with a tiny crack at top adjacent to frontstrap, the left panel with a tiny chip in symmetric location as carefully imaged. Mirror bore. VG+ box with clear notations, black wax pencil matched SN on bottom.
