French Model 1822 Charleville Musket
Description:
On Hold Sale Pending.I believe this is probably a model 1822 French Charleville style flintlock musket converted to percussion and rifled in approximately 69 rifled musket. Although there are no lock markings I believe this musket is of French manufacture, it could also be a Belgian made musket. I believe it is a 1822 model as there is a date of 1838 on the but plate as well as unit markings. The full 43 inch rifled barrel has a ladder rear sight and top band mounted front sight and a bayonet lug near the muzzle.. The full 3 band wood stock is in excellent condition with a circular French style cartouche on the right side. The Percussion lock functions at both half and full stock. All metal parts have a grey brown patina. Both sling swivels are present but the ramrod is missing. Overall in very good plu condition. Many foreign muskets were purchased and imported during the civil war.. please feel free to contact me with any questions. Shipping will be actual cost by usps priority mail or ups.
