The rear sight base almost touches the short action used on this model and is unique to the 1st type. The rifle is chambered in 50-70 government amd the bore of this rifle is clean and bright showing strong rifling. The wood shows typical dings and dents associated with a military rifle of this period but there are no cracks or structural issues. The action is strong and works as designed.
