This functioning lock is marked Blasien indicating manufacture at the Blasien armory in Germany. I believe it is their version of the 1777 French Charleville. This barell is dated 1817. Thousands of German muskets were imported during the civil war. The musket barrel is 42 inches with a total length of 57 inches. The stock has numerous dents dings and cracks.
