Inland Division Of General Motors M1 Carbine "X" Series Serial Number
Description: This Inland has the barrel date of 8-45. The carbine's serial number is X G 9. This carbine is in new condition! It shows no sign of ever being fired. All of the parts are Inland coded. The bore and chamber is in minty condition. The original finish still has storage grease intact in places. All of the parts and stock are of the very late style for Inland. The trigger housing is the M2 style The sear is the M2 style The hammer is the M1 style The safety is the rotating style. The operating rod is the M2 style. The blued bolt is the round bolt style. The magazine catch has the hook for the 30 round magazines. The stock is the pot belly M2 style. The barrel band is the type three with the bayonet lug. The sling is dated 1945. The stock and hand guard are correctly marked for Inland. This carbine did not come with a magazine. This gun does not show that there was any magazines ever installed. This is a incredible condition Inland Carbine! My understanding of this carbine is that this is a prototype of the production carbines that were to be produced for the invasion of the Japanese home islands hence the "XG9"- Experimental Government Style 9-.The barrel date of 8-45 tells you that the War ended by that month and year. This is one of the last styles of the Inlands to be produced. Having the special serial number and being in new condition makes this a very rare highly collectable Carbine for the military collector!
