Inland Division Of General Motors M1 Carbine With The Repeated Serial Number X Code
Description: The Inland barrel date is 11-43. The Carbine's serial number is 949261X. The X after the serial number denotes that the serial number was accidentally duplicated. The duplicated serial number was given a X at the end to denote the second serial number duplicated. These carbines with the X after the serial number are rare. It is seldom that the serial numbering dies get stuck to duplicate the serial number. This receiver is also a Saginaw Gear Receiver that was sent to Inland Division to help fill in the receiver shortage and keep production going. The receiver is properly marked with [SG] on the left side of the receiver below the stock line. This serial number falls into the correct range for the receiver shortage. This carbine is a correct as issued carbine. All of the parts are correct for this time frame and serial range. The barrel is by Inland and is dated 11-43. The bolt is the flat style and has the correct blued finish. The bore is in very fine bright condition with sharp lands. The barrel and all the parts have their original finish intact. The type one barrel band is marked UI. The rear sight is the correct flip sight for this gun. The stock and hand guard have no cracks or damage. The stock has the ordnance wheel on the right side and the HI in the sling well. The original finish on the wood is intact. The magazine is a correct coded magazine for this carbine. This carbine has not been restored or messed with. This is a original as issued gun This gun would rate a 96% overall condition.
