The wood is good with issue dents and dings, wood loss at the forearm junction with the receiver, and wood loss along the cleaning rod channel. The cleaning rod is a replacement. The right side of the receiver has an eagle/ “USN"/ “Springfield"/ “1870", The anchor on the barrel is defaced. The rear sight slide is absent. The bayonet lug is present. The action functions correctly. This is a representative example of the 1870 Navy rifle that could fill the hole in your collection.
