BRITISH OFFICERS FUSIL WITH POWDER HORN AND BAYONET
Description: This British FUSIL was produced in London, sold by the J.A.Parker company to an officer of the 46th Light Infantry. The regiment arrived in North Carolina in April 1776 for service in the American Revolutionary War.[9] It fought at the Battle of Long Island in August 1776,[9] the Battle of White Plains in October 1776[10] and the Battle of Fort Washington in November 1776.[10] It saw further action during the Philadelphia campaign at the Battle of Brandywine in September 1777[11] the Battle of Paoli also in September 1777[12] and the Battle of Germantown in October 1777 Brown Bess Flintlock Muskets and Officers Fusils by Richard Wilson's first contracts with the East India Company date back to 1733, and after he died in 1766, business with the company was carried on by the firm. The barrel also has standard London proof and view marks and Wilson's MARK. Similar muskets are part of the collections at the British National Army Museum, Smithsonian, and Springfield National Armory Museum. 39 inch round barrel,.75 caliber black powder Condition: Very good with a mix of fairly bright surfaces and light pitting and brown patina on the iron, aged patina on the brass, revarnished stock with small hole filled behind the entry pipe finial, and general minor scratches and dings. These were purchased by the officers on a personal basis and differed from the standard Brown Bess This musket comes with period bayonet and powder horn.
