"National Postal Meter M1 Carbine .30 Carbine (L2026-06691)

"Serial no. 4161484. Manufactured in 1944 by National Postal Meter Company,chambered in .30 Carbine,18"" round barrel marked “UNDERWOOD/2-44/Flaming Bomb." The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. The front sight is marked “SN," while the barrel band is unmarked. The carbine is fitted with a Type II milled adjustable rear sight marked “SA" and has been upgraded with a rotary safety. The low wood stock retains a handsome “NPM/FJA" ordnance crossed cannons cartouche, with the sling well stamped “Trimble/TN." National Postal Meter was one of the more unique wartime M1 Carbine contractors, originally producing postage meters before transitioning to wartime arms production.
