SCARCE JONATHAN BROWNING PERCUSSION MOUNTAIN RIFLE IS DIFFICULT TO LOCATE .45 CALIBER
Description: SCARCE JONATHAN BROWNING PERCUSSION MOUNTAIN RIFLE IS DIFFICULT TO LOCATE .45 CALIBER. These were made in the late 1970s in the U.S.A. They were offered in brass mounted or iron mounted and in calibers .45, .50 and .54. Of these the iron mounted .45 is the least encountered. Often overlooked, the .45 caliber is a great target and small game muzzle loader using a round ball- easy on powder and lead with little to no recoil. Or, use any one of a number of muzzle loading bullets and a hefty charge of black powder (or black powder substitute) and you can equal the power of the .45-70; .45-90 or .45-110 buffalo cartridge. This iron mounted example is in excellent condition and appears to have seen very little if any use. It features a single set trigger, 30" Octagon barrel, adjustable rear sight, walnut stock with cheek piece, Hawken style trigger guard and heavy iron butt plate. All iron parts and barrel traditionally browned. It also has the distinctive "sheeps horn curled" bolster where the nipple fits. Exc. bore and wood. Tough to find. These are great quality.
