The New England Firearms SS1 Sportsters were a popular inexpensive single-shot rifle, USA-made in Massachusetts. The rifles were made for less than ten years, from 1999-2008. Available in a host of calibers, both centerfire and rimfire and even shotgun bores, the NEF Sportster was a cheaper alternative to the popular Thompson Center Encore. The simple construction and single-shot barrels made it easy to own one receiver and multiple barrels of different calibers for different applications. This Sportster rifle is chambered in the timeless .22 Long Rifle. The 20" mid-weight barrel adds a considerable amount of weight to the gun while aiding in accuracy, with some users reporting around 1 MOA groupings at 100 yards. This piece is equipped with a now-discontinued Cabela's Pine Ridge .17 HMR 3-12x40 scope with duplex reticle and MOA adjustments set in Weaver rings on a Weaver rail. The hammer has a hammer extension installed for easier cocking with the scope mounted. The barrel and bore are bright and flawless on this gun and the cosmetic condition of the firearm is very good. The matte receiver shows a few signs of light wear. This NEF Sportster does not include a case or box. .22 Long Rifle
