This is a very nice, affordable dangerous game rifle. The Hawkeye African is designed by Ruger to be durable, easy to use, and accurate. Like all Model 77 Mark II and Hawkeye rifles, the African utilizes a non-rotating, Mauser-type controlled round feed extractor to ensure positive case extraction under the worst conditions. The bolt is made as a single piece for increased durability. The engraved floor plate is hinged for easy unloading without having to chamber each round. The latch is flush with the trigger guard to avoid accidental cartridge dumps. This Hawkeye African is chambered for the powerful .375 Ruger, a cartridge suitable for quickly neutralizing even the toughest dangerous game animals out there. The .375 Ruger utilizes a unique cartridge case designed by Hornady in cooperation with Ruger. This allows the .375 Ruger to have a larger case capacity then the belted magnum case given cases of equal length.
