The “C" prefix followed by a four-digit serial number is a classic Sino-Soviet pattern, representing some of the earliest Chinese-produced SKS carbines made under direct Soviet supervision using supplied tooling and components. These early 1956 rifles bridge Soviet and Chinese production characteristics and are among the more desirable variations of the Type 56 SKS.
