The bolt is non-matching to the receiver, though the bolt components remain matching to each other. The imperial chrysanthemum (“mum") remains intact on the receiver, a highly desirable feature indicating the rifle was not surrendered through the normal post-war channels. The metal has aged to an attractive brown patina, while the stock shows expected handling impressions accumulated through military service. An intact mum combined with honest service wear makes this an appealing example of a wartime Japanese service rifle.
