BARRELS: 26” Dovetail Lump Ejector Barrels with Raised Matted Rib and Doll's Head Third Bite- Express Rear Sight with One Standing and Two Folding Leaves- Ramp Front Sight with Fine Bead plus Flip Up Night Sight. PROVENANCE: William Evans company records indicate this rifle was commissioned in 1907 (name of ordering individual illegible) with final recorded sale to Lt. Col. W.G.S. Mitchell in 1919. Extensive bio on Sir William Gore Sutherland Mitchell documents his rise through the Royal Air Force (RAF), retiring in 1941 at the rank of Air Chief Marshal at which time he became the first RAF Officer to hold the post of “Black Rod” in the House of Lords.
