N.W.M.P. Winchester Model 1876 carbine with provenance.
Description:
Gun looks all original except for lower tang screw.
Metal has faded to a gray patina.
Stockes are solid with no chips or cracks, but with one small gouge and one medium gouge on the butt stock.
N.W.M.P. banner is faint but legible.
Clear Winchester stampings on the barrel.
Bore is mosty bright, 8 or 9 out of 10.
Firearm is listed on page 80, shipped April 20 1885, shipping order 20202; in Lewis Yearout's NWMP book.
I have shot this carbine on several occasions using my hand loads of 25 gns. of IMR 4198 and 350 gn. bullet. It shoots just fine.
Firearm is an antique and can be shipped directly to you.
The most interesting thing of this firearm is that it was issued to Constable Micheal Moriarty in 1932. On April 26 1935, Constable Moriarty was shot and killed in the line of duty. Moriarty Road on RCMP Heritage Center in Regina SA. is named in his honor. Likewise he is listed on their Honour Roll #55. See D. Klancher letters. I'm willing to consider trades for U.S. marked Cavalry or Artillery Colt SAA. Must have Kopec or Colt letters for each.
