Winchester Model 1917 Rifle In Early Production In All Original Condition
Description: The Winchester's barrel date is 11-17. The rifle's serial number is 65443. This rifle has never been messed with or been rebuilt! This Winchester barrel is chambered for the 30 Government 1906 [30-06] military cartridge. The bore is in minty condition. The barrel retains almost all of the original bluing. The bolt and all of the other parts are marked Winchester with a "W". That means that this rifle is completely properly coded Winchester. The stock and handguards are also coded with the "W". The Receiver has all of the original bluing intact. The left side receiver rail has the proper flaming bomb and star in a circle proof marks clearly stamped. The stock and handguards have all of the original finish intact. The wood is in near new condition. The butt plate trap door has the original oiler intact. The oiler compartment has the original brush and pull through cleaning kit in that compartment. The original 1918 dated military sling is in very fine condition. The leather is supple with no cracking. The leather is in the correct light tan coloring. This rifle is in almost unissued condition! The bolt face shows light use and wear. The action is tight and works smoothly. Winchester started production of the Model 1917 Rifle in late May of 1917. The company had a slow start to get into full production due to parts interchangebility problems with Remington And Eddystone who were also producing the Model 1917 Rifles. This early Winchester is a wonderful example of the company's rifle production for The World War! You rarely will find a early Winchester in this fine of condition!
