Quality Consignments Wanted! This is a first year production rifle which was produced in 1892. The serial number of this rifle is 22217. It is chambered for the hard to find 38 W.C.F. [38-40] cartridge. The rifle is a round barrel 24 inch as standard model. The bore is very fine with no pitting or being shot out. The sights are original to this rifle. It is also fitted for a Lyman tang sight. The tang sight is the correct style for this era Winchester. The stock and forend have no cracks or splits. The butt plate, barrel and magazine tube retain most of the original bluing. That would rate a 96% overall condition. The receiver has mottling and some browning to the bluing surface. The receiver would rate a 50% overall condition. The bolt retains almost all of the bluing. The hammer and lever retain some color cased finish in protected areas. The action works perfectly and is tight with no sign of wear. The Winchester has seen use but no abuse. This rifle shows signs of being well cared for and properly cleaned as there is no sign of corrosive ammunition damage.
