Dubbed the “Rifleman’s Rifle,” the Winchester Model 70 is one of the most iconic American bolt-action rifles, originally introduced in 1936 and revered for its craftsmanship, accuracy, and reliability. This Featherweight variant, introduced in the 1950s, was built for hunters seeking the performance of the Model 70 in a lighter, more field-friendly package.
This particular Model 70 Featherweight was manufactured in 1961, during the highly sought-after pre-’64 production era. These rifles featured the renowned controlled round feed system and solid machined steel construction that made the early Model 70s so desirable.

Rifle Condition and Features

• Barrel: 22" factory blued barrel with a bright, shiny bore and strong rifling. Equipped with the original folding rear leaf sight and a brass bead front sight.
• Action: Blued bolt-action in very good mechanical condition with smooth cycling. Classic controlled feed bolt with wing-style three-position safety. Internal magazine with hinged floor plate.
• Stock: Custom glass-bedded walnut stock with a great fit to the barrel and action. Features a contoured cheek rest, contrasting wood grip cap and forend tip, and a Pachmayr White Line ventilated recoil pad. The stock shows moderate handling marks and a few honest hunting scars consistent with its age and field use.
• Scope & Mounts: Topped with a Redfield 3-9x40 scope, solidly mounted using matching rings and bases.
• Extras: Sling swivel studs and included mounts and rings.
