Description: General Specs: Classic Doubles, c1989, 20 Gauge, 7lbs., Chokes Screw-ins, LOP 14 9/16", DAH 2 3/16", DAC 1 7/16" Serial Number: CA5-715 Vintage Firearms is pleased to offer for sale this quite scarce Classic Doubles Field 101 Grade II, serial number CA5-715, manufactured by Classic Doubles International between 1987-1990. These guns were essentially Winchester 101’s made in the same factory on the same machinery. The guns have identical mechanisms, and most parts from the two companies are interchangeable. Classic Doubles endeavored to make a better 101 than its predecessor and the guns are often considered superior to their forerunners. Cosmetically the gun has a slightly different look, but the finish and woodwork generally are of higher quality. The metalwork was available either blued or coin finish as is this example, the engraving patterns were hand finished, the wood was well figured French Walnut with hand checkering and on this gun, a grade II, deluxe walnut with round knob pistol grip stock and forearm with fine fleur-de-lis details. This gun has 99% factory original finishes throughout and just a few handling marks. The bores are mirror and feature screw-in chokes and 3” chambers, SK/SK are supplied. The guns mechanics are in perfect working order, the action is tight and on Center, the ejectors are well timed. Classic Doubles International spent extra time and effort on the 101, this is visible when the gun is broken, the monobloc breach is covered in fine machine turning, indeed, it exemplifies how CDI was aiming to achieve a reputation for excellence and attention to detail. This is apparent throughout the gun, and it is part of what makes these over/unders so collectable in todays market. With a limited production run these unique 101’s are a breadth of fresh air on the sporting stands, not just another Winchester but something a bit special, dare to be different, you will not be disappointed. This Field Grade II has its original shipping box and papers. See the specifications bellow. Thanks for looking.
