Here is a very cool little boxlock by William Griffiths from the 1890's that will make a nice pair with the Griffiths hammergun I have listed. The 26" barrels are sleeved Damascus-to-steel. They have 2 3/4" chambers and very good bores, choked .009/.019 (approximately IC/LM.) The gun locks up tight. The rib is engraved WILLIAM GRIFFITHS MANCHESTER, and the action features unusual carved serpentine fences, and border and acanthus scroll engraving. The trigger guard bow has the characteristic Griffiths dog (see the photos of the Griffiths hammergun.) The wood has various dings and indentation from over a century of use, but is quite solid. The fore-end has a push-button release, and an ebony finial. The stock measures 1 1/2" x 2 1/8" x 14 1/6" over a checkered butt with engraved heel and toe plates. There is slight cast off. The weight is 6 lbs 5 oz. An unusual and excellent little upland gun.
