SOLD
Here is a very good Westley Richards 1865 patent 12 bore snap-action bar-in-wood. It was built around 1869 or 1870, and very likely converted from pinfire. The 30" nitro-re-proved Damascus barrels have 2 1/2" chambers and excellent bores. (There is no choke, of course.) It has a single-bite action with a Westley Richards patent top-lever. The dolphin-style hammers are non-rebounding. The fore-end has a Deeley & Edge patent latch release, and a horn finial. The fore-end at the knuckle has a very well done (almost invisible) insert repair. The beautifully figured stock measures 1 7/8" x 2 7/8" x 14 1/8" over a smooth steel butt-plate. There is cast ON. The weight is 7 lbs 7 oz. A very attractive - and very shootable! - Westley from a fascinating period in English gunmaking history.
