1893 Winchester Pump 12 Gauge

Not to be confused with the Model 1897. The 1893 uses 2 9/16” black powder shells. To preserve customer relations, with the 1893 and 1897 models coming out so close together, Winchester offered anyone bringing in their 1893 could have a new 1897, so there aren’t a lot of these around. Low Serial #12609 places it at manufacture date of 1894. Has the uncommon 32” barrel. In bright borelight the bore still has some dull shine left to it, but I will honestly point out it has lots of pitting. I’ve put around 20 shells through it in the years I’ve had it, and have experienced no issues. The correct ammo can be purchased from Buffalo Arms. I can’t find a choke stamp, but most of these were Full. A previous owner has had a surface brushing applied to most of the metal, and then had it re-blued. As to the wood I believe it is original, it’s up to the viewer to decide. It has most likely been refinished. The left side of the foregrip has a long crack emanating from the fastening screw. There is an incredibly tight hairline one at the right side fastening screw that is so tight it is difficult to see or photograph. There are several handing marks in the foregrip. But all in all it is still solid and performing its function. The rear stock has a very fine and tight crack on either side of the grip area, which is common on the 1893 and 1897. But on this one they are far less significant than on most. There are some expected handling marks on the rear stock, but fewer than most examples, and only one has any notable size to it. The chamber shows excellent remaining bluing and mechanics. The action works easily and confidently, it loads and ejects shells as it should.
