Profusely Inlaid Fullstock Presentation Rifle

Description:
 A finely crafted mid -19th century presentation or award profusely inlaid fullstock rifle of About 52 caliber smoothbore, 36 1/2” octagon barrel with a heavily oxidized bore. All of the metal surfaces are a dull pewter gunmetal gray patina showing scattered oxidation and some spots of light pitting. The unadorned lock has  “Lehman”, There is  fork like  open rear sight on barrel and five antique filled dovetails. The rifle has brass hardware and is overall inlaid with brass and German silver geometric inlays, with an older four piece patchbox.  The work was done by a craftsman for a presentation gun or award, rilfe shootng match event.  The most endearing part are two snakes on the right side of the butt, one which runs the length of the comb, the other coming up from the patchbox, there are three more around the lockplate. The maple stock rates about very good with brass furniture with the lock plate appearing to be silver plated.es with a simple hardwood ram-rod.Action works good with a fancy trigger used.When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith  before  shooting.
